Two Israeli teenagers were killed Saturday when an Israeli soldier opened fire on a group of Palestinians during a demonstration in Hebrons southern town, police said.

The IDF opened fire when the crowd attacked the soldiers vehicle on the outskirts of the village of Beit Jala, located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) east of the West Bank city of Ramallah.

The soldiers opened fire at the protesters, wounding one of them and killing the other, said the police spokesman, Gilad Shalit.

The teens, who were in their 20s, were taken to hospital and were expected to survive.
